The RNCC Target List
It's no surprise that our country is politically divided.
However, it may surprise you to know that a recent analysis of 2016 presidential election results shows that the tightest race in the country was my congressional district. That's right: Oregon's Fourth district was the most divided congressional district in America, with Hillary Clinton winning by just 554 votes, or 0.14%. So it’s not a shock that Republicans have me in their sights.
Yesterday, the National Republican Congressional Committee released their list of Democratic targets – Democrats they hope to unseat in the 2018 midterm elections – and I'm on that list. This means that of the 435 House races in 2018, ours is one of 36 on which Republicans plan to spend a lot of time, energy, and money to win.
They have me in their sights for taking on special interests and standing up for your interests, but I know we're going to fight back together.
For years, Trump's main donor – billionaire Robert Mercer – has tried to defeat me using the fortune that he gained from Wall Street speculation. Mercer isn't a fan of my proposal to tax risky Wall St. trades and has spent more than $1.7 million in a very personal effort to take me down. Each time, we held him back with our unbeatable grassroots energy. And now, House Republicans are also zeroing in on our district – gearing up for 2018.
They may have put me on a target list, but one of the first things that popped into my mind was you and the rest of my supporters. If House Republicans think that you won't stand by me, they're wrong!
Together, we can fight for our progressive values and beat the special interests fair and square. I don’t need billionaire donors or shady Super PACs to make it happen – we’re building a movement by and for the people. The momentum is on our side and we will continue to move forward.
