            Our country is facing difficult times.  Most average Americans aren't thriving in this current economy despite happy-talk they are fed from so-called experts. Americans see that failed trade policies continue to export formerly good-paying jobs out of this country.

            They see needed programs, like education and health care, being slashed in order to provide tax cuts for millionaires and their heirs. At the same time, they watch as this Administration leads this nation in hock to foreign investors, while passing trillions of dollars of debt onto our children and grandchildren.

            This president has claimed extraordinary unilateral powers, disregarding the Constitution, with little or no opposition from the Republicans in Congress. And, of course, the U.S. military remains mired in a misguided war in Iraq with no exit strategy in sight and no articulated plan for real success.

            I do believe the leadership in this Congress reflects the best of what big monied interests can buy—and it's not a pretty picture.  My opponent and his well-healed supporters brag they out-fundraised me during the last reporting period. That's easy to do when a small number of your friends can write big checks.

            But that support doesn't match the vast number of consistent support I receive in donations from real individuals.  I am writing once again ask for your support to help me wrong a run a strong reelection campaign.  With your help of whatever you can afford to do helps me to send a message back in our nation's capital that Congress and our democracy is not for sale.
