Why I'm voting yes on Measure 101

As an Oregon voter, I want to take a moment to tell you why I'm voting YES on Measure 101 in the upcoming election on Tuesday, January 23rd. A YES vote for Measure 101 will stabilize Oregon's health care costs by implementing a fee on hospitals and insurance companies to help fund Medicaid, which provides health care for one in four Oregonians, including 400,000 children.

Some of the biggest supporters of Measure 101 are the large hospitals and insurance companies who will pay the tax because they recognize that our health care system is the most financially efficient when everyone has access to affordable coverage. Community members who don't have access to low-cost preventative care are forced to delay treatment until a matter worsens and seek help in emergency rooms at extremely high costs, which most of us would not be able to pay for out of pocket.

No one in Oregon, or in this country, should be forced to decide between seeking medical treatment and taking care of their families or keeping a roof over their head!

Be sure to turn in your ballot by Tuesday, January 23rd in order to be counted in this critical election. It's critical that we all do our part to make sure M101 passes. Join hundreds of Oregonians across the state for the final Get Out the Vote effort in your area.
