Don't let Republicans cover up the truth about Kavanaugh

Republicans did their best last week to cover up the truth about Brett Kavanaugh and rush through his confirmation. But his record speaks for itself.

He calls birth control "abortion-inducing drugs.' He questioned whether Roe v. Wade is settled law and whether the Supreme Court could overturn it.

He believes the president should be above the law and exempt from investigation and prosecution.

He has a consistent record of ruling in favor of corporate interests and against workplace protection, consumer safety, and efforts to combat climate change.

He could be the deciding vote on a case that threatens Obamacare – a lawsuit brought by Republicans to dismantle the ACA's protections for pre-existing conditions is currently being heard in Texas, and could make its way to the Supreme Court. Protections for millions of Americans are at risk.

Don't be fooled by his milquetoast answers before a Senate committee this week, Brett Kavanaugh is a right-wing political operative who has been auditioning for this job his entire career.

He was hand-picked by the Federalist Society because they are confident he will advance their extreme activist agenda to roll back environmental protections and ignore climate change, deny women access to reproductive health care and abortions, erode workers rights and protections, prevent equal access to the ballot, and roll back the progress of the Affordable Care Act.

Brett Kavanaugh's name was on the list of Supreme Court candidates Donald Trump promised to choose from to be elected. Nominating Kavanaugh is the payoff for the millions of dollars that special interest groups invested in Trump's campaign.

I urge Senate Democrats to do everything in their power to prevent Brett Kavanaugh from a lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court.
