It's time to think about our future

For decades, scientists have been clear about the dangers of human-caused climate change and the damage that has been done to our environment. Now we're starting to see the direct impacts of climate change – from record-breaking natural disasters to rising sea levels and extinction of species. It's up to us to right the course and save our planet for future generations.

So we must act now, and act decisively

We must listen to our scientists. We must take bold, progressive steps to eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels. We must invest in renewable energy and create jobs in the growing green energy economy. We must rebuild and modernize our transportation infrastructure systems to be more resilient and energy efficient. And we must protect marginalized communities that are impacted by climate change the most.

Join me in telling Congress to act on the Green New Deal now.

As Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I've directed all six subcommittees to investigate ways to reduce fossil fuel consumption and address impacts of climate change.

It's our duty to future generations to find and implement solutions which is why I signed an amicus curiae brief to support Our Children's Trust in their landmark lawsuit against the federal government as they seek science-based policy actions.

In the face of a president and Republican-led Senate who blatantly ignore and discount the existential threat posed by climate change, I pledge to continue to do my part in Congress by pushing for bold, transformative action that will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, curtail greenhouse gas emissions, and protect our planet for future generations.

Stand with me! Sign the petition: tell Congress to act on a Green New Deal.
