Alek Skarlatos is trying desperately to paint himself as some kind of moderate. Even quoting President Obama out of context to imply he supports his campaign! I am proud to be the only candidate in this race endorsed by former President Obama.
Alek Skarlatos is no moderate. Not even a little bit.
On health care: Skarlatos supports repealing the Affordable Care Act, which would take health care away from more than 20 million people, and eliminate protections for people with preexisting conditions.
On minimum wage: Alek doesn't think there should be a minimum wage, and that corporations should be free to pay their workers as little as possible.
On COVID: Skarlatos doesn't support giving working families, frontline workers, and small businesses a relief package, despite record unemployment and a historic recession.
On reproductive rights: Asked if he wants the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, he said "If we can do it, we should probably go for it."
On Trump's controversial SCOTUS pick: When asked his opinion on Anti- Affordable Health Care/Immigrant/LGBTQ/Women's Rights Supreme Court Pick Amy Coney Barrett, he said she is "perfect... I think she is excellent."
These aren't moderate positions. They value corporate profit over human life and ignore the problems of working families in order to funnel even more money to millionaires and billionaires. They're heartless, destructive, and dangerous. And they don't reflect the will of Oregonians.
Still, Skarlatos and his dark money backers are out there every day, making up stories and muddying the water in hopes that people won't see him for who he is: a right-wing extremist looking to serve the rich and powerful while the rest of us fight over the crumbs.
