Eugene, Oregon — The day before Election Day, Congressman Peter A. DeFazio (D-OR) joined Senator Ron Wyden, Senator Jeff Merkley, Secretary of State candidate State Senator Shemia Fagan, State Treasurer Tobias Read, and State Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle, along with University of Oregon College Democrats and Oregon College Democrats, at an event to encourage voters to return their ballots. With just over 24 hours left until the end of voting, it’s critically important that all voters return their ballot by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3. (CLICK HERE TO WATCH VIDEO OF THE EVENT)

“It’s imperative that every voter turn in their ballot by 8:00 PM on Election Day,” said Congressman DeFazio. “This race should be about the issues that matter to Oregonians - my opponent wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, which would take health care away from thousands of Fourth District families. He downplays COVID-19 and doesn’t think our small businesses and families need additional assistance to fight the ongoing pandemic. And he wants to end the federal minimum wage. Alek Skarlatos is out of step with our values. I encourage all Oregonians to turn in their ballots as soon as possible and ensure their voice is heard on Election Day.”

“Oregonians know a robust democracy draws its strength from their vote in ballot dropoff boxes here on campus at my alma mater and every other dropoff site in our state," said Senator Wyden. "I strongly urge every Oregonian both to get their ballot in by 8 pm on Election Day and to support Peter DeFazio, Shemia Fagan, Jeff Merkley and Tobias Read -- each of whom stands up every day to defend the interest of all Oregonians against special interests. That adds up to an 'Oregon Way' win for democracy that builds an even stronger Oregon and America."

"This is the most important election of our lifetimes, which is why it's critical that every Oregonian gets their ballot in ballot boxes no later than 8 p.m. tomorrow to have their voices heard," said Senator Merkley. "Everything is on the line this Election Day, so if you care about keeping your family safe during this pandemic, guaranteeing affordable health care for all Americans, rebuilding our economy, restoring our democracy, and giving every Oregon family the opportunity to thrive, please turn in your ballot and support Shemia Fagan, Peter DeFazio, Tobias Read and me.”

"We know here in Oregon that voting by mail is safe. No matter with whom, no matter from where, by tomorrow at 8 p.m. I will vote," said State Senator Fagan.

"It’s no secret that this election has historic implications for our country, but who and what you support throughout the ballot has an enormous influence on your life from education to health care to opportunities for your future and the future of this planet. Every one of us has a responsibility to make our voices heard,” said State Treasurer Read.

“The stakes are higher than they have ever been. If you have voted, get your family and friends to vote. If you haven’t, don’t wake up Wednesday morning with the regret for the vote you didn’t turn in. Let's get it done,” said State Labor Commissioner Hoyle.

Ballots drop box sites are open until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3. To find a ballot drop box location near you, visit the Oregon Secretary of State website here.

As Independent as Oregon.

Peter DeFazio's common-sense proposals aim to create good-paying jobs, expand access to affordable health care and develop options outside of the for-profit marketplace, restore economic and educational opportunities, hold government accountable and tip the scales of inequality back in favor of hard-working Oregonians.
