Eugene, Oregon— Congressman Peter DeFazio (D-OR) released a statement on winning re-election to represent Oregon’s 4th Congressional District in the 117th Congress.
“I am honored to have earned your trust once again to serve the people of Southwest Oregon in the US House of Representatives.
“The citizens of Southwest Oregon spoke clearly tonight in favor of a system that works for the people, not wealthy special interests. We ran a great campaign with a powerful promise: to protect affordable health care for everyone, defend women’s health rights, deliver relief for struggling workers and families, and fight for the future of both our planet and our democracy.
“COVID-19 may have changed a lot about the way we ran our campaign this year, but it did not dampen our people power. I want to thank my wife, Myrnie Daut, my incredible staff, and each and every supporter, friend, and volunteer who came together to launch a unified, powerful, and absolutely unrivaled grassroots force in this campaign.
“This year’s election was one of the most partisan and toughest elections in recent history - both for our district, state, and country. Our community has also faced a number of unprecedented challenges - from COVID-19 to the wildfires that devastated so many. Now is the time to put politics aside and get to work in a bipartisan way to recover and rebuild. Oregonians have always been resilient and fiercely independent, and in this spirit, I’m humbled to continue our fight for what’s most important for our community in the 117th Congress,” said Congressman Peter DeFazio.
