A big win for our coastal communities

Great news for Oregon's Southwestern Coast: back in December, I asked Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, R.D. James, to increase funding for the Coos Bay North Jetty and he agreed to my request!

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing an additional $34 million to repair and maintain the North Jetty, which is critical to safe navigation to and from the port of Coos Bay; a major economic engine for the region, and a harbor of refuge for both commercial and recreational vessels.

Oregon's ports and harbors are the lifeblood of the communities they serve and we must ensure that they have the funding to properly maintain them. I'm very proud that we're getting it done for the people of Oregon.

Onward to further progress,
