I strongly condemn the assault which killed and wounded U.S. servicemembers and Afghans outside the Kabul airport.

I want to express my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of our military servicemembers and Afghans killed and wounded in the attack outside the Kabul airport. I extend my sincere sympathies for every innocent life taken.

While the Biden Administration has worked diligently to evacuate more than 100,000 U.S. citizens and our Afghan allies following the withdrawal of U.S. Armed Forces, we must work even more urgently to immediately remove Americans from any further harm.

I’m thankful for the bravery our servicemembers, who’ve worked tirelessly to keep Americans safe at home and abroad.

Conditions in Afghanistan are changing minute to minute, and I will make sure the Biden Administration continues to keep Congress regularly informed of the situation on the ground.

Further, I’ll be doing everything I can to support the evacuation and to cut through bureaucratic red tape to get Americans, allies, and vulnerable Afghans out of the country as soon as possible.

More soon,
